Commit to an hourly spend across eligible Compute Engine, GKE and Cloud Run usage, at 28% off for one year and 46% for three.
Either way, the commitment runs for the full term and cannot be canceled.
What changed in 2026
In January 2026, Google moved spend-based CUDs from credits to discounted prices on each SKU, with the commitment stated at the discounted price, and extended coverage to more services.
On June 16, 2026, Google changed the default scope of resource-based CUDs from the project that bought them to the whole billing account, with sharing enabled. New billing accounts get this by default, and many existing accounts were switched. For organizations that charge cloud costs back to teams, that changes who benefits from a commitment.
What it means for the deal
Because CUDs cannot be canceled, the size and term of the commitment matter more than the headline discount. How commitments sit alongside a negotiated Google Cloud agreement is part of the same conversation.
